Knowing which sector a company is in can help you maintain a well-diversified income portfolio.
Today we rolled out new and improved sector classifications from Standard & Poor’s (S&P). There are 11 standardized sectors that all companies fall under.
Your portfolio’s sector mix report has been updated with these sectors as well. Here’s the diversification of our Conservative Retirees portfolio using the new sector classifications, for example.
I hope you will find the new classifications to be much more familiar and easier to use for analysis of your portfolio as well. Let us know if you have any questions or comments below.
Well done! thanks for this!
You’re very welcome, Chris!

Will this graphic be appearing in the “new” version of your website?
Hi Bob,
Yes, there is a full portfolio report on diversification that shows a similar pie chart, the weight of each sector, and the holdings (and their weights) within each sector.
Let us know if you need any help tracking it down.

Materials?
Yes, Materials are one of the 11 sector classifications. We just don’t happen to own any Materials companies in our Conservative Retirees portfolio.
